A thorough examination by Pediatric Cardiologist reveals problems like a hole in the septum that divided the upper chambers (atria) of the heart. The former requires less blood transfusion during surgery, lesser trauma to surrounding structures, faster recovery and resumption of daily activities including lifting weights. The surgery time was just 3.5 hours. As opposed to this a conventional open heart surgery would require 4-6 units of blood transfusion, 5- 6 hours in the operation theatre, slow recovery time as more surrounding structures are cut during surgery and almost 6 months of no heavy work or weight lifting.
